Law Club Live seminar: Digital Marketing: Emperor's New Clothes?

On Wednesday 9th November we hosted a free Digital Marketing Seminar for small to medium sized businesses at our Duke House office in Leeds.
Law Club Live seminars are hosted on a quarterly basis and aim to deliver practical advice on a variety of topics delivered by both internal and guest speakers.
Wednesdays seminar, that was attended by 30 companies, provided practical advice on how they can develop & strengthen their brand online to engage with customers and drive sales, whilst being aware of legal issues related to the use of Digital Marketing.
We invited two guest speakers to talk about their areas of expertise, alongside our very own Managing Partner; Jonathan Wearing. Please see below:
John Shears from Ovic Ltd. John is a director of a Yorkshire based multidiscipline consultancy which has helped both private companies and local government achieve goals and find growth. In this session he provided an introduction to online marketing, emphasising core values; what's important and what's not - with a focus on website design rules and SEO.

Warren Coates from Yell. Warren is a national manager with Yell. He offered an insight into the opportunities within Digital Marketing and Social Media applications, along with highlighting the threats that they also present.

Jonathan Wearing from Ison Harrison Solicitors. Jonathan is Managing Partner at Ison Harrison Solicitors. He discussed the legal debate that can arise surrounding the ownership of content posted on social media applications by employees in a company's name. He also discussed employees rights and the legal implications of injunctions on content that is circulated in the digital market place.
