Ison Harrison’s York branch has bolstered its team with another key appointment to strengthen its claim as The Yorkshire Law Firm and put the seal on a great first year in business in the famous medieval city.
Shelley Britton has been appointed as a family solicitor and joins a stellar team that has really made a mark for Ison Harrison outside its West Yorkshire base. The York branch opened in October 2018 and, under the stewardship of Chris Brierley, has quickly established itself as a key legal resource to the local community.
As with the many other satellite branches of Ison Harrison, the York office offers the core legal services of residential conveyancing, family law and Wills & probate. That team has now been supplemented by Shelley’s arrival.
Experienced family law advice in York
Shelley brings with her over seven years’ experience working in family law, and qualified as a solicitor in August 2014. Shelley joins Ison Harrison from Switalskis Solicitors, also in York. Shelley describes a family solicitor’s day-to-day tasks as being varied, with time split between meeting new clients and providing advice, drafting documents, taking calls and attending court.
In her legal career so far, Shelley describes the most rewarding aspect of being a family law solicitor is helping people, being a common theme spread right across the Ison Harrison team:
“I strive to help clients who are often in a vulnerable situation and cannot see the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’, to find an amicable and satisfactory solution. This is very rewarding.”
With a team of specialist experts at hand, Ison Harrison’s advice is well received and taken on board. One of Shelley’s key attributes is keeping pace with the changing face of family law, with many changes having already taken place in the five years she has been qualified, which she confesses have variously made her job both easier and harder.
Shelley, who has started work in the York office in January 2020 describes herself as “honest, helpful and easy to talk to”, which outlines the basis of how we approach our client/solicitor relationships at Ison Harrison. Shelley describes her favourite alternative career as a forensic scientist because she has “always had a love for it”, Ison Harrison’s client base can be satisfied that Shelley will apply a forensic level of detail, research and application to her work.
The York office is now based right in the heart of this historic city, at 23 Micklegate, following a recent move to larger, more accessible offices in York city centre, and Shelley’s friendly face and expert knowledge is sure to be a welcome addition to a growing team.
