  • Family Solicitor / Legal Executive: Barnsley

    The role involves developing and managing a varied caseload of family matters. This is a new role with an initially small caseload so good relationships with existing contacts and/or strong business development skills are highly desirable.  Ison Harrison has a large, highly experienced family team for support however this is a ‘stand-alone’ role and requires a competent and confident individual who will be able to work with minimum supervision once trained on our Case Management System and processes.

    Job Description

    • Dealing with matters at all stages, from taking the client’s initial instructions through to archiving, in accordance with office and accounts procedures.
    • Taking instructions from clients and advising accordingly.
    • Instructing counsel or other experts where appropriate
    • Representing clients at Court (including advocacy) as appropriate
    • Obtaining and preparing file documentation.
    • Billing files and obtaining monies due to the firm from the clients and other parties.
    • Delegated supervisory responsibilities as and when required
    • Maintaining legal knowledge and skills
    • Contribute to maintaining and improving office procedures
    • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
    • Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm

    Key Skills

    • Ability to deal with technical details and to express solutions to complex legal issues in a concise and customer-friendly way
    • Literate and numerate.

  • Conveyancing Solicitor / Legal Executive: Barnsley

    The role involves managing a busy caseload of sale and purchase matters from file opening to completion. The successful candidate will have 5 years+ experience of property matters and be competent in dealing with freehold & leasehold, registered & non-registered, help to buy and shared ownership transactions, able to work with minimum supervision once trained on our Case Management System and processes.

    The successful candidate will be client focused and will pride themselves on delivering a first class service throughout the entire conveyancing process.  They will have strong business development skills and be able to create a solid client base and referrer network in and around the area.

  • Conveyancing Assistant Vacancies

    We are currently recruiting for conveyancing assistants, with vacancies in several of our offices.   

    The role will involve dealing with property matters at all stages of the transaction from file opening to completion and archiving. 

    A minimum of 12 months’ previous sales and purchase experience in a similar role and a good technical knowledge of the conveyancing process are essential. The successful candidate will be a hard-working and efficient, able to work accurately under pressure and to manage and prioritise work effectively.  They will be a team-player with a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude; able to use their initiative when appropriate and to work pro-actively to meet the needs of the lawyer they are supporting and the branch office.  The role involves a significant amount of contact with clients and other parties so a good level of spoken English and a professional, friendly manner are essential. 

    The position offers good development opportunities for the right candidate but these will not be immediate or in the short-term.

    Job Description 

    1.    Providing support to fee earners, solicitors and partners. 

    2.    Dealing with matters at all stages under supervision, from taking the client’s initial instructions through to archiving, in accordance with office and accounts procedures.  

    3.    Opening new files and inputting new instructions onto the Case Management system and producing relevant letters and documents.

    4.    Dealing with incoming post where appropriate.

    5.    Liaising with clients and other parties on behalf of fee earners and dealing with telephone, written and face to face enquiries as appropriate.

    6.    Updating the Case Management system in accordance with team procedures as the matter progresses. 

    7.    General administration duties including filing, billing, faxing, photocopying, sorting post and archiving.
