Paralegal/Legal Executive/NQ

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a 0-2 PQE Family Solicitor/Legal Executive/Paralegal to work in the Family team of our Pudsey branch.

The successful candidate will be working alongside and assisting one of our reputable family lawyers and managing their own case files under supervision. The candidate will be specialising in private family work, Children Act proceedings, divorce proceedings and assisting with financial cases.

Post Completion Assistant 

Ison Harrison Solicitors offers a full range of legal services to both personal and commercial clients from its 12 offices in and around Leeds.

We are currently recruiting for a Post Completion Assistant to join our busy Leeds city centre office on a full-time basis. The role will provide support to our residential and new build property departments and includes handling Post Completion matters within the team through a wide variety of matters such as submission payments, registering new build properties and land registry requisitions.

You will be expected to hit the ground running and will require minimum supervision from colleagues.
The successful applicant will be a quick and accurate worker and be able to follow instructions carefully while dealing with a high volume of work. They will be a team player with a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude.

  • Paralegal Legal Executive NQ Job Description

    KEY TASKS:

    • Providing support to solicitors and partners in the Family Department.
    • Dealing with matters at all stages, from taking the client’s initial instructions through to archiving, under supervision and in accordance with office and accounts procedures.  
    • Liaising with clients and other parties on behalf of fee earners and dealing with enquiries as appropriate.
    • Obtaining and preparing file documentation.
    • Billing files and obtaining monies due to the firm from the clients and other parties.
    • Maintaining legal knowledge and skills
    • Contribute to maintaining and improving office procedures
    • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
    • Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:

    • Ability to present and argue a case orally and in writing. 
    • Ability to deal with technical details and to express solutions to complex, sensitive legal issues in a concise and client-friendly way
    • Ability to work accurately in accordance with the requirements of each team.  
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    •  Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work on own initiative.

    Qualifications:

    • Law Degree
    • Legal Practice Course (desirable)

    Experience:

    • Previous experience as a paralegal or similar level role
    • Case management system
    • Flexible and ‘can do’ attitude
    • Excellent written English to produce documents for the clients, court and other parties.  
    • Satisfactory absence record or sound justification for high absenteeism.
    • Able to promote the image of the firm.

  • Post Completion Assistant Job Description

    Key Tasks

    • Dealing with matters at all stages from completion to archiving.
    • Preparing and lodging AP1, FR1, TR1 and other applications at HM Land Registry within the priority period.
    • Dealing with any requisitions prior to HMLR’s deadline.
    • Ensuring the charge and any associated transaction is correctly registered.
    • Ensuring each matter file has a zero balance with all client and office monies accounted for.
    • Sending completed registrations and other documents to the client and/or lender as appropriate.
    • Advising the appropriate manager if there are any cases with a risk of a complaint, removal from a lender panel or negligence claim.
    • Updating the Case Management system in accordance with team procedures as the matter progresses.
    • Dealing with telephone enquiries where possible or taking messages for colleagues.

    Skills - Essential

    • Good keyboard skills.
    • Literate and numerate.
    • Ability to work accurately in accordance with the requirements of the team.
