Nigel qualified as a Solicitor in 1989 and has since developed a profile and reputation within Leeds as being one of the pre-eminent child care family lawyers. Nigel is a member of the Law Society Children’s panel and has attained higher rights of audience (Civil).
After launching his own firm, Bowmans Family Law, in July 2005 he merged his practice with Ison Harrison in September 2010.
Nigel predominately acts for children in care proceedings whether they be privately or publicly funded. He is extremely experienced in advising on secure accommodation orders, discharge care order applications, adoption and placement applications and contact applications to children in care. Nigel represents children through their guardian as well as children directly when separate representation is necessary. Furthermore, Nigel is very experienced in representing adults who lack the capacity through the official Solicitor. He represents parents and other family members and interveners.
In addition to his specialism of acting in children’s matters Nigel is also conversant with all other family matters including divorce, co-habitation and financial matters. He undertakes all his own advocacy as far as possible and is a regular visitor to the Leeds Family Proceeding Court, County Court and High Court.
Superb advocacy, experience, strength of preparation.
