The 26 men and women all underwent shoulder or hand surgery performed by surgeon Michael Walsh. An investigation by Spire uncovered examples of Walsh harming patients by performing surgery on them unnecessarily or badly.

Having investigated the care provided by Mr Walsh to our client, Mr Joynson a full admission has now been secured. It has been admitted that his shoulder surgery was not performed to an acceptable standard and with appropriate surgery, on the balance of probabilities, the majority of Mr Joynson’s symptoms would have resolved within 6 months of surgery. He would have avoided the need to undergo two additional procedures, a steroid injection and MR arthrograms. Miss Law is now investigating quantum following which the parties will enter into negotiations in order to avoid the need for court proceedings.
