We are delighted to announce that from January 2017 we will have five new partners joining the board at our law firm.
These five people are driven, motivated and highly experienced individuals that have made a real impact at Ison Harrison and will continue to do so in their new appointments to the board.
The new partners are as follows:
Jenny joined the firm to set a specialist ‘New Build’ department in February 2015. What she has achieved in 2 years is remarkable. Not only has she excelled in winning new clients she has also shown an innate ability to manage people as her team has grown. Jenny now has a team of 15 people with the department regularly opening over 150 new matters a month. We act for clients buying new build properties all across the North – from Bellway, McCarthy and Stone, Strata, Redrow, Gleeson, Harron Homes, Keepmoat, and Linden development sites.
Success like this doesn’t just happen. It comes from fully understanding the area of law that you specialise in, fully understanding the market and your competitors, tirelessly looking for opportunities to improve service or grow the business and being able to nurture and rely upon a strong and hard-working team. Jenny has all of these qualities, and more.
Yunus joined the firm in November 2009 as an employment lawyer – not an easy position to be in given the significant challenges that employment lawyers have faced over the course of the past few years. However, whilst the number of employment tribunal cases across the country has fallen by over 80% in 3 years, Yunus continues to attract high quality work, particularly from the community in which he is so prominent. His success in being able to attract work is a direct result of his networking and of his increasing profile within the Football Association, his contribution to inter-faith work and generally with Muslim communities.
The promotion to partner is reward for Yunus’ hard work and commitment across all aspects of employment law.
James is a very good residential conveyancer. He has an eye for detail as well as ability to juggle and delegate tasks with ease. He is very good with clients, technical issues and solving problems. Over the past year he has taken on an increasing number of management responsibilities within the residential conveyancing team and all those who have been trained by him will testify to his energy and expertise. Since his arrival James has very quickly developed into a key member of the firm, let alone department.
With our new office due to open in Huddersfield in the New Year, James is perfectly placed to be the manager. Living in Huddersfield he has been building links and relationships within the area over the past 18 months and his promotion to partner is testament to his continued hard work.
Ben joined the firm as an immigration lawyer in January 2010. Later that year he took on responsibility for the management of the financial performance of the family department, was made manager of the immigration team in January 2014 and in 2015 took on responsibility for the management of all of the firm’s legal aid contracts. As Legal Aid Liaison, Ben has the responsibility for ensuring the smooth and professional tender process for our legal aid contracts, for the management of audits, for managing outstanding debt and with our daily communications with the legal aid agency. Ben’s knowledge of Legal Aid contracts and processes is essential for the continued success of our legally aided clients and teams.
Over recent years the Immigration department has gone from strength to strength and we are now recognised as one of Leeds’ leading immigration law firms.
Erica joined the firm in June 2013 and ever since arriving Erica has worked incredibly hard and developed a specialist caseload of Judicial Review work for which she is recognised both regionally and nationally. Her patience and dedication know no bounds as she navigates clients through often difficult situations. Those who have worked alongside her recognise her as a consummate professional.
Erica’s hard work has particularly paid off this year as the Public Law department has performed incredibly well and Erica provided enormous support behind the scenes during the Hillsborough inquest in terms of managing the firms’ relationship with the Home Office and enabled those involved in the ‘nitty gritty’ of the work to remain focussed.
Managing Partner, Jonathan Wearing, would like to congratulate Jenny, Yunus, James, Ben and Erica on their new appointments and wish them all the success in 2017 and beyond.
