Ison Harrison is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Silver Award as part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), recognising the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme celebrates organisations that actively demonstrate their commitment to the Armed Forces community. Through its Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, the scheme recognises employers that go above and beyond in supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families, while upholding the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. Although the programme predominantly highlights achievements within the private sector, recognition is also open to public sector bodies, including local authorities, NHS organisations and emergency service providers.
The Silver Award represents a significant milestone in Ison Harrison’s commitment to ensuring that members of the Armed Forces community are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their civilian careers. This includes support for Veterans, Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and military families.
As part of its commitment, Ison Harrison has introduced a reservist policy designed to support employees with military commitments. These measures ensure that staff who serve as Reservists are able to balance their professional and military responsibilities, with provisions including paid leave for training, short-term deployments and emergency situations.
Commenting on the achievement, Diane Askwith, Head of Military Claims at Ison Harrison, said:
“We are immensely proud to have received the Silver Award of the Armed Forces Covenant. We are committed as an organisation to supporting the Armed Forces community including Veterans, Reservists and their families to ensure they face no disadvantage. We have put in place a number of policies in relation to ensuring employees in the organisation have paid leave in the event of short-term deployments, training or if an emergency arises. We are very much looking forward to strengthening our links with the Reservist and Cadet movements going forward and raising awareness of Ison Harrison being a Forces Friendly employer.”
The award reflects the firm’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace where individuals with Armed Forces connections can thrive. It also reinforces Ison Harrison’s commitment to being a Forces Friendly employer and to building stronger relationships with the wider military community.
Receiving the Silver Award is an important recognition of the work already undertaken across the organisation, but it also marks the beginning of the next stage of Ison Harrison’s journey in supporting the Armed Forces community. The firm looks forward to continuing to champion the valuable skills, experience and dedication that Veterans, Reservists and military families bring to the workplace.
Ison Harrison is honoured to stand alongside other organisations that have pledged their support through the Armed Forces Covenant and remains committed to making a positive difference for those who serve, or have served, our country.
