Members of the Ison Harrison are joining forces with the INQUEST charity for a big fundraising push in September, to help fight for justice for bereaved families.

On Sunday 24th September, members of the Ison Harrison team will be joining INQUEST to undertake the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge with the aim of completing it in less than 12 hours.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge has become a go-to charity event in recent years given the considerable nature of the personal challenge, while it has also become an established route for the keen outdoor enthusiast. The challenge takes in some of the most glorious outposts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the triple climbs of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres). The peaks are usually tackled in this order, and completing it in under 12 hours is the common goal.

The team members from Ison Harrison taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge will be:

  • Jonathan Wearing (Managing Director)
  • Gareth Naylor (Head of Personal Injury & Inquests)
  • Gemma Vine (Associate)
  • Graham Roberts (Partner)
  • Megan Spurr (Trainee Solicitor in Personal Injury & Inquests)
  • Frances Evans (Paralegal in Personal Injury & Inquests)
  • Thomas Whitwell (Paralegal in Personal Injury & Inquests)

Gareth and Gemma both work very closely with the INQUEST charity and it was a natural fit for them to take this challenge on at a time when INQUEST are facing substantial fundraising needs.

INQUEST have been fighting justice for state-related deaths for over 40 years, and in doing so regularly collaborate with Ison Harrison in the build-up to and during inquest proceedings. INQUEST provide expertise on state-related deaths for bereaved families, lawyers, advice and support agencies and the media. Their main aim is to provide access to justice for people who have suffered preventable deaths while in state care. These commonly involve deaths in mental health settings, immigration detention, when in police containment and when in the prison system.

Every death, in any circumstances, has a backstory and a bereaved family that needs support, and INQUEST specialise in cases where this support is imperative and may not be coming from anywhere else. Naturally, the need for INQUEST’s expertise and support has never been greater than it is now, but they face severe funding issues at the worst possible time and Ison Harrison didn’t hesitate when invited to come up with ideas and join the push for fundraising.

You can contribute to a great fundraising cause

The Three Peaks Challenge is coming up towards the end of September and it is still possible for you to contribute to the fundraising push. A Just Giving page has been set-up to take kind donations, which will help in the fight for justice for bereaved families who have experienced a death in a state-related setting.

At Ison Harrison we are expecting more volunteers to come forward to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and we will be reporting back on how the challenge goes and how the fundraising was given a boost, but in the meantime – and while the team put in the hours of training and pack their rucksacks ready for the off – any support towards this amazing cause would be greatly appreciated.
