Abbie Churchill, the face behind our Barnsley branch, balances her busy legal career with family life and cheering on Barnsley FC – thanks to her kids’ passion for the team!
What drew you to Barnsley and to Ison Harrison as the branch manager?
I have worked in Barnsley since 2003 and have close links to the town as my children’s father was born and bred here; hence why they are huge supporters of Barnsley FC! I was drawn to Ison Harrison when they opened the branch as I knew I wanted to continue working in Barnsley and the firm had such a good reputation. Barnsley town itself has come on leaps and bounds and is thriving.
Your kids are big Barnsley FC fans – how has their love for the Reds influenced family life?
My kids are staunch supporters and have been season ticket holders for years. They are so loyal; attending some away matches as well as the home games and even the chilly night matches, school work permitting of course.
What’s your favourite part of being based in Barnsley, both personally and professionally?
The people. I am lucky enough to work with a number of people that I have worked with at my previous firms and they are the best, most hard working colleagues. I love the local shops in Barnsley; they thrive in the arcade and elsewhere and their staff have that priceless down to earth sense of humour.
Tell us about the kinds of legal services that Ison Harrison Solicitors offers and how you service the local community.

If someone’s never been to Ison Harrison’s Barnsley branch, what can they expect when they walk through the door?
A warm and friendly welcome from staff that genuinely want to help. It can be nerve racking approaching a legal firm, particularly if it is not in the best of circumstances but we pride ourselves on being approachable and protecting our client’s best interests.
From the football grounds to the courtroom, Abbie is proud to serve the Barnsley community with passion and dedication. Best of luck to Stephen Humphrys and the team for the rest of the season – we’ll be cheering you on!
