Ison Harrison recently assisted a client with their successful application for a Private Hire Licence.

On occasion, a licensing authority will ask an applicant to explain certain matters such as entries on a DBS check. In this case, Leeds City Council had asked for a clarification of past events that related to offences recorded on their DBS check.

Ison Harrison drafted representations which concentrated on explaining the context surrounding the offending, as well as detailing how the client could be considered as a ‘fit and proper person.’

After the representations had been considered by the Council, the client’s application was successful and the Private Hire licence was granted.

The case shows how important well drafted representations can be as part of the taxi licensing process. They can help to ease any concerns as to the suitability and character of a person applying for a licence, which can be vital.

If you require advice and assistance in relation to a taxi licensing matter, please do not hesitate to contact Ison Harrison.
