A partner in our Clinical Negligence Department, negotiated a settlement of £36,600.00 on behalf of a woman in her thirties who had surgery to her nose 6 months after she was assaulted.
The purpose of the surgery was to remove a lump on the bridge of the claimant’s nose caused by the assault, and to restore her previous appearance as far as possible.
Instead the surgeon significantly reduced the size of the nose. After the operation the claimant also had difficulty breathing through the left nostril. Further surgery was performed, but was of little benefit.
The claimant suffers from depression. Her breathing is permanently impaired, limiting her ability to exercise, and the vulnerability of her nose has contributed to her inability to return to working with young children.
