We recently acted on behalf of the widow of a 70 year old man whose diagnosis of lung cancer was delayed due to an error by a radiologist.

Mr B underwent a chest x-ray as he had been suffering from a cough for a number of years. He was told that the x-ray was clear. 18 months later he underwent a further chest x-ray which showed an abnormality and lung cancer was diagnosed. Unfortunately it had spread to his lymph nodes and he died within a few months. We obtained evidence from a radiologist who confirmed that the first x-ray had been misreported leading to a delay in diagnosis. Liability was admitted and a negotiated settlement reached.
