Ison Harrison successfully acted on behalf of a client who developed pressure ulcers after she was admitted to hospital following a fracture to her leg. Our client suffered from multiple sclerosis and due to her immobility was at increased risk of developing pressure ulcers.

Whilst in hospital she developed a grade 2 sacral pressure ulcer. Ison Harrison obtained evidence from a nursing expert which established that the care provide to our client was substandard. In particular there was a failure to provide a pressure relieving mattress and a failure to ensure our client was regularly turned to reduce the risk of developing pressure ulcers. Fortunately our client has made a good recovery but remains at increased risk of developing further pressure ulcers in the future.

Liability was admitted by the NHS Litigation Authority and we reached a negotiated settlement of £16,500.
