Welcome to the latest “5 minutes with” where we chat to Ellen Morley, a Paralegal working in the Family Legal Aid team from our head office in Leeds.
Ellen is a long-standing member of the Ison team, so we find out more about her day-to-day role and what she loves about it.
So Ellen, how long have you worked at Ison Harrison?
17 years.
Where did you work previously?
I started at Harrison Bundey solicitors (which was the same firm as Ison Harrison based in Chapeltown) as a Legal Secretary, when I left college. I left HB for six months to work at a firm called Davies Gore Lomax and then returned to Ison Harrison in 2008 and have been here ever since.
What areas of law do you specialise in?
I specialise in Child Arrangements Orders, Non Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders.
What is the most interesting part of your job?
The job is varied with each day bringing new challenges. You never know what will happen on any given day!
What awards / accreditations are you most proud of?
I am an IDAS Champion. IDAS is a domestic violence organisation providing support and advice for victims of domestic abuse in the North Yorkshire, Barnsley and Sheffield area.
What’s the most useful piece of advice you have been given in your career?
Never be afraid to ask for help – everyone needs help from time to time.
So true. And what do you like doing in your spare time?
I like going for walks with my family finishing with a Sunday Roast. I like reading and listening to music.
What does IH being 100% employee-owned mean to you?
I feel a genuine connection to the firm and a sense of belonging.
Thanks Ellen!
