Ison Harrison is proud to announce it is sponsoring the Kind Hearts Ball for a second consecutive year, following the success of the 2018 event. The ball is set to take place on Sunday March 24th at the New Dock Hall at Royal Armouries in Leeds.

Kind Hearts Give Back is a charity set up by cervical cancer survivor Victoria Lobley-Eames with the help of her friend Dhiran Mistry. The organisation was set up in 2014 after Victoria survived her cancer diagnosis, and while she could no longer undertake the marathons she used to enjoy, she decided she could raise funds and awareness through event organising.

This led to the first Kind Hearts Ball, which has now grown into a spectacular and much-anticipated annual event, with plenty of glamour, entertainment, giveaways, auctions and food and drink. The 2018 ball raised nearly £28,000 for a range of cancer charities, including Yorkshire Cancer Centre, Teenage Cancer Trust and Cancer Research UK, and it is hoped that the 2019 event will be bigger and better and raise even more money.

Our Introduction to Kind Hearts Give Back

We were introduced to the Kind Hearts event when co-organiser Dhiran joined the firm in January 2018. Dhiran joined our commercial property department as a Solicitor and set about utilising his first class Law degree, previous experience and contacts to create a following.

Dhiran obtained his Law degree from Leeds Beckett University in 2014 after he was forced to resign from his studies at Nottingham Law School in 2010 for 18 months in order to undergo chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Dhiran has been helping Victoria with the Kind Hearts Give Back project for the last three years and hopes that this year is the biggest one yet.

In addition, we have another direct connection with the charity ball, because Ami Law from our clinical negligence department gave a memorable speech at last year’s event relating to her own experiences.

Ami was just 21 years old when she made the choice to become a stem cell donor to her older brother Adam. She talked very passionately about her experiences and her personal recollections really brought home the touching plight that many individuals and families have to undertake with cancer diagnoses in this country.

A Spectacular Charity Event

Ison Harrison supports a number of different charity events and organisations across the region throughout the year, but we take great pleasure in supporting the Kind Hearts Ball, given our direct connection through Dhiran and Ami.

We are looking forward to the event, held on 24th March.
