There are many things that make Leeds great, but for us it’s about the people, the diverse vibrant culture and the social life. Safe to say, we’re proud to say we live here.

Here’s a few things we love about Leeds, as voted for by various members of the Ison team:

The Shops

Emma Garfitt, a Trainee Solicitor based at our Ilkley Branch, loves the local shops of the city; her favourites being the Trinity Leeds shopping centre and the gems you can find in the Victoria Quarter.

The new John Lewis store will be opening soon too, which has a number of staff very excited given that Leed
s is finally going to experience “the John Lewis effect” (it’s quite a brand to be rivalled!).

Yorkshire Born and Bred

Leeds attracts a lot of other Yorkshire folk as well as those that come from further afield, giving the city a real mix of tourism and friendly regulars who know the best places to visit. With over 25.4m people visiting Leeds each year just for the day, there’s always something happening to keep the locals and the newcomers interested.

The Architecture

Ben Davison, our Head of Immigration at the Leeds City Centre branch, is fiercely proud of Leeds’ rich heritage and architecture. There are many historic buildings right in the heart of the city, such as the Leeds Town Hall and the Leeds Church Institute. Not only that, The
Corn Exchange is quite fabulous when you step inside too – this dates back to 1864 and boasts some lovely Victorian architecture.

Transport Links

More people move to Leeds each year because it is a great location to set up home in and also acts as a great base for exploring other towns and cities close by. A train to London takes less than 2hrs and there are excellent coach and rail services. Many of our Leeds solicitors live in the heart of the city, with others nestled in the outskirts – luckily our Leeds branch is very easy to get to!

Restaurants

There are some award winning local restaurants, so whatever takes your fancy, there’s always somewhere interesting just round the corner in Leeds. We love the independent restaurants, with Shears Yard being a particular favourite amongst some of our more trendy members of staff (their cocktails are quite something, apparently…)

E
ducation

Leeds University is consistently regarded as one of the top universities in the UK, and is now also one of the largest. Students from all over the UK, and internationally, flock to the city to take up placements at this excellent Uni.

Entertainment

Emma Watson, a Paralegal within our Debt Recovery Department, firmly believes that the diverse range of entertainment on offer in Leeds is a credit to the city. If you love the theatre then the West Yorkshire Playhouse or Leeds Grand always have something to shout about.

So there you have it…our top reasons why Leeds is one of the best places to live. That’s why we’re #TheLeedsLawFirm.
