Dominic joined the firm Ison Harrison in 2003 as an assistant solicitor to a relatively small Probate department to head up, which he has continued to do so for over 10 years.
Since then, under his direct supervision, the department has grown more than six times the size. We now have a Private Client offering in all of our offices, and we believe the department, which holds nearly 30,000 wills, is the largest and broadest Private Client department of its type in Leeds.
Dominic has trained most of the fee earners in the department, with them generally spending at least a year under his direct supervision. He is enormously proud of this and having never having paid recruitment fees. Continuous training and development of his staff has always been a top priority, as demonstrated by the fact that none of his team have ever left and that a number of his “graduates” have quickly established their own caseloads and reputations within the field.
Dominic is at heart a fee earner. He relishes being a fee earner and he leads by example. Although his caseload is mainly non contentious, having been originally trained as a family lawyer, he is equally happy with contentious probate work.
His advice is often sought by other members of the firm and by other professionals such as accountants, financial advisers and other lawyers.
He would say that his best skill is that he goes the extra mile for his clients.
He is proud to have been the firm’s training partner for 7 years and even prouder of the trainees the firm has produced during this time.
Dominic became an equity partner in 2008 aged 33.
I pride myself in providing a top-quality service to all my clients, so I have high expectations of my suppliers and am pleased to say that Ison Harrison went above and beyond to surpass my expectations.
Having worked with Ison Harrison for many years from a business perspective, when I found myself caught in the middle of a personal dispute over a wills and probate matter, I called upon the firm to try and resolve the situation.
I found Dominic to be extremely knowledgeable, patient and respectful. He took the time to understand all viewpoints and examine the facts around the case. He then offered some impartial advice, based around similar cases he had encountered. Dominic was empathetic and understanding, but also delivered the necessary harsh truths in order to avoid a costly legal battle with bleak potential outcomes.
Where some solicitors may have sugar-coated the message in order to elongate the case and maximise fees; Dominic gave honest, credible advice that was in the best interests of myself and my family, rather than himself as our lawyer.
It was refreshing to meet someone who clearly values long term relationships and doing the right thing over the chance to earn a few ‘quick quid’.
I would have no hesitation in using and recommending Ison Harrison for any future legal matters, both personal and commercial.
