The inquest touching the death of Deseree Fitzpatrick begins Monday 7 November 2022 at the Manchester South Coroners Court in Stockport before HM Coroner Andrew Bridgeman and is listed for 5 days.
Deseree was informally admitted to the Royal Cheadle Hospital, operated by The Priory on the 19 January 2022 for treatment of her mental health and alcohol detoxification after presenting at A&E with suicidal thoughts.
On the morning of the 23 January 2022 Deseree was found unresponsive in bed and was sadly pronounced deceased.
The family hope that the inquest will consider issues of Polypharmacy (management of prescribed drugs), clinical observations, management of alcohol withdrawal, the quality of safety observations and the emergency response and that any failings are recognised, and action is taken so events are not repeated.
This inquest comes after the charity INQUEST have called for a statutory public inquiry into deaths in mental health settings nationally.
The family are represented by our Director and Head of PI and Inquests, Gareth Naylor and Counsel, Richard Copnall of Parklane Plowden Chambers.
