New Driver Offences – Get Expert Legal Advice

The effect of the Road Traffic (New Drivers) Act 1995 means that new drivers are subject to a two-year probationary period, which comes into effect on the day that they become a ‘qualified driver’.

If you incur six points or more during the probationary period, your licence will be automatically revoked. To start driving again, a provisional licence will need to be applied for- and a further driving test must be passed.

Any points which might have been incurred whilst the motorist was driving under their initial Provisional Licence are carried over.
