The loss of a baby can be one of the most harrowing times a person, couple or family has to deal with. Whether the baby is lost during pregnancy or in the early weeks or months of life, it can be a life-changing event, where blossoming attachments and connections already made are severed before you have had chance to truly cherish them.

In such cases, the sense of loss can be overwhelming and the support network you have around you can be incredibly important. At Ison Harrison we pride ourselves on having experienced staff who have dealt with cases of baby loss and have become an integral part of this support network.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 2018

As a result of our work in this area we are lending our support to Baby Loss Awareness Week 2018, which is running across the UK from 9 – 15 October. This annual event is a collaboration between 60 well-known charities, with the aim of raising awareness of key issues that affect those who have experienced baby loss in the UK.

While individual circumstances differ, we have found that people benefit greatly from talking to parents and couples who have had similar experiences, and Baby Loss Awareness Week helps people connect and do that. It can be greatly comforting when you are with people who can directly relate to your loss.

How you can support Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby Loss Awareness Week is now in its 16th year, and there are lots of events going on throughout the week, such as an attempt to turn the UK pink and blue for the week with colourful building illuminations, a Wave of Light on 15th October and there are pin badges and ribbons on sale to help raise funds. The event is working to fund tangible improvements in research, care and policy around bereavement support too.

We hope you will join us in helping to break the silence and supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week 2018.
