On Saturday 22nd May, members of the Ison Harrison Barnsley branch and their families will enjoy a sponsored walk around Worsbrough Mill, donning bright orange t-shirts and donation buckets to help raise money for a charity very close to our hearts, Barnsley Hospice. We aim to raise as much money as we can for the hospice and we hope the weather will be kind to us too!

The walk is part of our efforts for Barnsley Hospice’s Accumulator Challenge, an annual event which encourages local businesses to raise as much money as they can for the hospice in a month. This year just happens to be a particularly good time for us to do a sponsored walk for the charity since we are actively promoting staff health and wellbeing with the Yorkshire Law Firm Challenge and encouraging our colleagues to get out and about to explore Yorkshire. The miles we will walk on Saturday will turn into £ for our Challenge campaign too! We are also sponsoring the Welcome to Yorkshire #Walkshire campaign and Barnsley is our next walk, so it ties in really well with supporting the hospice at the same time.

Dan Kenworthy, Ison Harrison Barnsley branch manager, said:

“Our Worsbrough Walk will raise money directly for the hospice and also help our staff add some miles to their running total for our #yorkshirelawfirmchallange. Ison Harrison is committed to supporting local communities and supporting our staff’s well-being and this event achieves both. We are very pleased to support a charity like Barnsley Hospice which does such good work for so many people in the borough and relies on donations to keep going.”

We have set up a Just Giving page for anyone that would like to donate to the Ison Harrison walk in aid of Barnsley Hospice – click here to donate.

Our relationship with Barnsley Hospice has developed over the last couple of years since we opened our branch in Barnsley on Regent Street in August 2019.

We have previously joined together with the hospice for various fundraising initiatives including the Barnsley Hospice Bargain Hunt style competition, where we bought items from the charity shop and raised money by selling the items on eBay. We have also sponsored Christmas Trees and organised office raffles to support Barnsley Hospice.
