Ison Harrison has agreed to be a headline sponsor for the upcoming Charlie’s Charity Ball & Awards 2018, a special fundraising event on September 29th being staged by the Charlie’s Angels Centre Foundation.

The charity is dedicated to helping bereaved parents and families to cope with the loss of their children.

In areas of our work, and particularly with clinical negligence claims, we have come across this situation a number of times, where we have tried our best to support grieving families. Part of our responsibility to our clients is to get them back on their feet and to support them with a pathway to being able to cope with their loss.

Of course most of this is dealing with legal issues and putting together a plan to process a claim, but we also offer emotional support and we have also referred our clients to charities such as Charlie’s Angels, who carry out wonderful professional support in bereavement counselling at the time that parents and families really need it.

Setting up the charity

The work Charlie’s Angels do is truly selfless and invaluable. One of the founders set up the charity after their daughter lost her baby to Potter’s syndrome, and there was no support for her afterwards to help her deal with the grief. The charity now helps a large number of people each year, and they aim to establish a dedicated centre which houses rooms for counselling, a bereavement café for people to come in at any time to receive support and an accommodation and cool room facility, to provide families with somewhere to stay with their deceased children before the funeral takes place. They want this centre to be staffed 24/7 as they have people contacting them all through the day and night.

Currently they can offer home visits, counselling over the phone, counselling at their current centre and group sessions.

As a result of the amazing service Charlie’s Angels supply, we are more than happy to help the charity and be a headline sponsor for their annual awards event. This will be the third such annual event and is being held at Hunslet Club, Hillidge Road, Leeds. The charity promises “welcome drinks, three course meal, auction, late bar plus many more surprises to follow”.

Tickets for the event are £25 and these can be purchased online.

The awards will be hosted by Fay Louise Purdham, who is a successful model and actress who has appeared on TV several times, including BBC’s Miss Transgender. As a transgender female Fay has recent experience of coping with stressful and emotional mental issues, but has battled against these to become a strong and independent personality.

With over 150 people set to attend, including fundraisers and people who have benefitted from the charity’s help, we are looking forward to being involved and proud to be playing a part in the success of the event.

The event is aimed at raising awareness as well as vital funds, and it is hoped it will also be an inspirational event that will help people in these situations open up and talk about what will always be an extremely difficult subject to address. However, the charity is experienced and has the resources to help bereaved families get the support they need and address their specific issues.
