Blood Clots

Long periods of physical inactivity or clotting disorders may increase the risks of a blood clot developing. These are often associated with long flights, long operations and fractures. With operations and fractures, special measures should be taken such as special stockings or drugs (eg heparin) to ensure adequate anticoagulation. If these things are not done a deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism might occur resulting in serious complications including circulatory problems. Sometimes a blood clot will develop and the signs and symptoms are missed, delaying diagnosis and treatment.

Our team of lawyers have dealt with previous cases where blood clots have developed in situations where it could have been avoided. If you would like to discuss a matter with a member of our Clinical Negligence Department, you can speak to a member of the team directly on 0113 284 5745.
