Missed Scaphoid Fractures
The scaphoid is a small bone located between the thumb and wrist. It is prone to damage often following a fall when the hands are used to break the impact of hitting the floor or because of repetitive action placing strain on the bone.
Unfortunately because the scaphoid is quiet small fractures often get missed with those working in the front line services such as like GP’s and Accident and Emergency most at risk of providing negligent treatment.
The main symptoms of scaphoid fracture may include:
- Lack of Grip
- If a scaphoid fracture remains undiagnosed there are a number of complications that may include:
- Bone non- union
- Problems with blood supply
Missed diagnosis of a scaphoid fracture can have significant impact on the victim causing pain, suffering and in severe cases result in problems working or perhaps force early retirement.
Scaphoid fractures should not be missed. If you have suffered a misdiagnosed scaphoid fracture you may be able to claim compensation for medical negligence.« Go backContact us »
